apparently I had to re register, it said my old name was available. Anyways, I have to admit I am somewhat proud this is the first Subaru meet where there were more Legacy's than any other Subaru! Sadly though, there werent any other Subaru's. Its kind of funny and sad all at the same time. There was a Moke there though. Chipotle was very good though, always is. We need to try and plan an autocross meet, or drag meet, or something where we can actually race our vehicles legally.
Evan, I saw your car yesterday. I drove by a couple times waiting to see some new wheels on it, but then it was gone. |

There's an autocross event this weekend at the Lorain Ford Plant:
http://forum.noraracing.net/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=3369 and the Annual Car Club Challenge/Smackdown, on August 1st.. Lots of really fast cars from other regions come to fight it out for the trophy. I didn't make it out to this meet, since it was during the Toledo Pro. MAYBE NEXT ONE if it's not on an event date!!!

I unfortunately have to work this Sunday, or else I would seriously think about going. I am not working Aug 1 though.
I am a complete newb with autox though, are there certain events/locations that would be better for someone that has never autox? I have drag raced a lot, but never any road racing, but I want too. Last edited by what?; 07-23-2010 at 02:57 PM. |

Ah, on August 1st, we'll be at Northfield for the biggest event of the season, but we have a great staff of rookie trainers and people you can ride with to get a first hand experience of what it's like before you even go out there.
http://autox.net/ Hell, if you see me you can ask for a ride, or I can ride with you on your runs.

Northfield as in the horse track? I might be interested for August 1st... I do require some hand holding though, lol, I do prefer going to Nelson's.

Ok, so a couple questions about racing Sunday if anyone can answer. I think I would be in the STX, or maybe the Rookie class? I have a modified 05 LGT. Most bolt ons and at stage 2. Do I have to register online, or can I just show up Sunday and race? Do I need a number? Or if any of you that know autox racing and dont mind me just calling you that would be helpful. Thanks.

We use the parking lot of the horse track; most courses avg. .7 to .9 of a mile.
Speeds at about 6mph. Great experience for getting used to a car. I'll be on hand helping Setup, helping rookies and also one of the photographers. Feel free to come up and ask me anything, if you want, I'll pm you my number and help answer any questions. For this weekend, there will be no rookie class, as it's one of the biggest events we hold all year. It's a SCCA/Car Club Challenge, where numerous surrounding car clubs and SCCA regions come and duke it out for a trophy. Though, if you want to run this weekend you surely can, Find Me (short asian kid) or Jonathan Paine (Our Rookie Chief, drives a Orange Z, subsequently has orange hair) and we'll help you out. Even when you register, if you tell Tina at registration that you are a rookie we'll definitely help you out. Ron your car as it sits would be in SM, because in ST* you are not allowed to alter boost. If you were to unflash the car, you'd be STU; if you had a Cat. You may pre-register or just show up, but if you just show up it's an extra $5. We're pushing people to pre-register. Theres lots more info here: http://forum.noraracing.net/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=3371 Numbers, we can give you numbers at the event, but if you want to be prepared, when you pre-register, just think of a number and see if it lets you take it. Then print out some #'s and stick them on your car; done.

Thanks for the information. I will have to look at the car classes again and see where I might be. I think I am going to buy some magnet strips that I can cut numbers and letters out of there at the track if I need to. I will look at possibly registering online too before hand.
Will I get to run as much this Sunday if there is a lot more people there than usual? I am guessing there is pros and cons to racing this Sunday, but I am still wanting to come run my car and see what the whole thing is like. DaveIam, I think I may have met you like a year ago at QSL. I went to one meet there and met a few people. Well, it may have been longer ago than that, but anyways..

So apparently its too late now to preregister. I will be there tomorrow morning and see what happens, hopefully it will be ok, if not, Ill just try again next time. Hopefully it wont be raining much.
Dave, you never pmed me your number.. I have a magnet sheet to make numbers, I have a Bell helmet I drag with, so hopefully thats good. Does it matter what clothes you wear? can i wear shorts? I dont have any rain gear, so hopefully it wont rain. After looking at the classes it looks like ill be in SP Class F. I would go back to my stock tune, but, me trying to go back to stock power is like trying to never drink beer again. Maybe after I learn some more about the classes and competition I will change to be more competitive. Ill bring my accessport with me. I need to do some logs with the stock tune and the bolt ons I have and make sure it runs ok. I dont know if the bolt ons would affect running stock ECU settings much or not.
