Just finished installing the V1 in th STI. I used the BlendMount kit for the V1. I like it much better than the window suction cup mount.

I need to rig up something similar to that. These suction cups doesn't work for jack in the summer.

I'm trying to find the banner add on IWSTI again. I think I paid like 65 or 70 something after using a coupon.
Use coupon code "friend" for $10 off. $69 bucks at www.blendmount.com

- using just a thin and small smear of vacuum-grease on the edge of the suction cup cup (my Escort's mount is positioned like this, using this very trick, over the sun-dots of my wife's '09 FXT) - using a piece of plexi (or even metal, as long as you be careful to angle/positioned it so that it does not obstruct the RADAR antenna of the detector) sandwiched between the headliner and the windshield - or a combination of any of the above, or even the "naked" mount, somehow affixed to the windshield with the use of the 3M VHB-based "SuperLock" hook-and-loop type mount, as described in MEM-TEK's post below: http://www.radardetector.net/forums/...-your-rvm.html ^ The VHB tape will release clean, peeling it off the same way you'd do with 3M's Automotive Trim/Molding tape - and the advantage of using it on the vehicle interior is that it's tremendously heat-resistant. Typically, you'll go a year or more, without having to worry about replacing the tape, even if you park in direct summer sunlight ("industrial" Velcro usually gives up the ghost the first day ).---- While I like the "solidity" of the Blendmount, there are two considerations that should be made, of anyone entertaining its use: (1) It hangs below the inside RVM, obviously - and that position can intrude into your cross-street sightline quite a bit, particularly if you already find the Subaru RVM setup a little low. Even though you should be able to gain more clearance by playing with the double-pivot stalk, this is something that you still should consider and mock-up, before you spend money on the mount. (2) If you're concerned about people behind you (not only enforcers, but also just other drivers) seeing that you're "equipped," this unit will place it in direct line-of-sight. |

nice info!
I've always like the hidden area of mounting it above the rear view mirror. |

^ NP, glad to help!
I'd cross-post the metal "headliner insert" that was posted on one of the Ford Focus Forums a while back (particularly as plexi could easily be substituted), but it seems that those pix are down. Quote:
But in the end, it all comes down to personal preference.
