At home. I own the tool, the good Eastwood one. If you've got a heat gun, even a $20 Harbor Freight one you can do a great job, you can do it yourself in an hour or two. I generally ask for a 6 pack of good beer to borrow it. What's funny is that I bought it to do our car, and it's been used at least 30 times, but I've never actually used it.

OK. I think I'll take up your offer. Never used one before but I guess I'll learn. Unless you want to teach/help for an extra six-pack (open to anyone). Probably won't do it until later when the weather gets warmer; shopping for new summer wheels now.

Cheers.

I think that's the LERSOC motto.

Buy a tool, let everyone else borrow it - and *maybe* use it yourself, some day.

Guilty!

This tool makes it about 100x easier to do a good job when rolling. Unfortunately it works so good, you can literally work the lip into a warped state once you get it flattened out and keep going to give a little stretch.

We should just buy this tool from Mr.& Mrs. Croy to have it at the shop.

gling: you can find a good set of instructions here:
http://www.rollyourfender.com

I also borrowed Phil's fender rolling tool. Phil and Jay are right about the process being rather simple: I had no experience and it was pretty easy. I bought a $10-$15 heat gun from Harbor Freight and it did the trick, too. Heat and patience are the keys to doing a good job.

OK Dokey! Thanks for the link. I'll give it a shot when the time comes.

Cheers.

I don't know, probably close though. When we bought it Eastwood was running a sale so I think I paid $230 for the tool. Almost certainly would have paid for it if I had gotten beer for all of the fenders that were rolled with it when someone who I loaned it to passed it on to other people. I don't mind loaning out my tools but finding out that one of my tools was used by someone to make money without my knowledge was not a happy time.

Storm what kind of car do you have? I used to live in Willoughby, kinda half still live there. Half Parma, half Willoughby.

Phil, what kind of beer is your preference? I have been wanting to do this as well.

You probably won't see my 96 Impreza around unless it's an early sunday morning on the way to a local autocross or late afternoon returning from an event. The Impreza stays in the shop out in Cleveland. You're most likely to see me in a SRP Forester....

I semi-rolled mine with a heat gun and a rubber mallet just to get by but will still be up to roll them more/properly.

Jay,

Would you be willing to help me out or let me use your tools? I'd compensate you accordingly.

You can't use my tools....you pervert.....

When you're ready to roll em flat, lemme know.

Even, no problem! Lemme know if they need to go any further, bearing in mind the sharper angle will probably not let the rubber strip sit right. That's a good place for rust to breed anyway....might be better off with no rub strips, ya know....cuz you don't rub no-mo'......

Cheers.
